Attraction towards Forgettable Malayalam Movies

There's nothing more sad than investing 2 hours of your time to watch a movie, to end up realizing that all that's left within is disappointment and a thought of 'woe is me'!

Being a movie lover, it is all too common to see crap movies being churned out in every industry, however Malayalam Cinema does have a great 'Hall of Shame' (can i call em that?) consisting of movies that superstars and fans would be more than happy to forget about. Not to mention the woe of spending a huge sum to watch a movie starring your favorite superstar, going in with expectations and leaving the theater with a funny thought of burning the theater down.

First things first, it was in 2023 that i came across the Youtube Channel 'Appupan & The Boys', a group of youngsters from Kerala, with their awesome Appupan in tow, who developed a penchant for watching forgettable movies for the fun sake of it and to have a good time, in their own little ways. I liked their reviews and decided to go on an adventurous expedition through the Hall of Shame myself.

Reviews for a couple of Mohanlal's disastrous outings from the 2000's are incoming. Prayers for my well being are more than welcome (in the certain case that i will come out bruised and smarting)

Black (2004) - Raw, Gritty and Stylish

"Black: The man from Darkness" Neo-noir films have that magical allure to excite people and to compel them to explore the greyer areas of the drama called life. For people that enjoy and have a sense of morbid curiosity about what happens in the darker avenues of life, this genre is a definite route to escapism. Black is one such attempt from the famed Ranjith-Mammooty combination and I respect the superstar for choosing such a dark and complex subject and playing the role to perfection. Churned from actor Lal's own Lal Release, Karikamuri Shanmughan or Kumari is an iconic character in Mammootty's long alley of iconic career characters and holds an undoubted sense of swag to this day.   Credits - Blac...
