Random Musings : Tracks that evoke memories

Listening to “Eniku Padanoru” from Ivar Vivahidarayal right now. One of my favourites, but my mind goes woozy while singing along, with some memories that I have associated with this song

My unpleasant memory with this track is that, it is played in the wedding CD of one of my uppapans (right when the groom leaves for church), who got divorced like 10-11 years later. This track was included then, because it was a hit

- Another thing is that the singer of this track, T.T Sainoj passed away like a year or so after this track was released. RIP Sainoj

Pleasant memories - my previous relationships and envisioning lives lived with my crushes

What’s the track that holds memories (both pleasant and unpleasant)?

Black (2004) - Raw, Gritty and Stylish

"Black: The man from Darkness" Neo-noir films have that magical allure to excite people and to compel them to explore the greyer areas of the drama called life. For people that enjoy and have a sense of morbid curiosity about what happens in the darker avenues of life, this genre is a definite route to escapism. Black is one such attempt from the famed Ranjith-Mammooty combination and I respect the superstar for choosing such a dark and complex subject and playing the role to perfection. Churned from actor Lal's own Lal Release, Karikamuri Shanmughan or Kumbhari is an iconic character in Mammootty's long alley of iconic career characters and holds an undoubted sense of swag to this day.   Credits - Bl...

Rosapoo (2018) - An Offbeat attempt at something bold

Rosapoo Movie Poster Source: IMBD Being an avid fan of films that handle quirky subjects, Rosapoo is one such effort from Malayalam Cinema, that remains unexplored by many. Handling the subject of the adult film industry that's set on the backdrop of the late nineties and early noughties, and it's impact on churning films that reigned supreme in the cinema kottakas (theaters) at that time .  It provides a curious snapshot of those forgotten and indecorous days of old, in the Malayalam Film Industry. Days that the Malayalam Film Industry would like to forget, memories that are stowed away into a silent and forgotten shutter in the attic of our minds. Vandanam (1989) - Our Buddy Cop Classic

Say the word Bangalore and the first thing that comes to my mind is the film 'Vandanam'. Vandanam is a movie that's pretty close to my heart. More of a comfort movie, if you will.  Inspired from the 1987 flick Stakeout , Priyadarshan has that knack to craft movie remakes that Malayalis can relate to, and end up embracing, as one of their own. Early 20's me got attracted to everything Vandanam had to offer - the allure of a new Southern City, iconic comedy scenes that still makes me chuckle to this day, great soundtrack and a nice storyline that kept me hooked. As mentioned earlier in my Black blog entry , words wont be enough to express my admiration for the movie. However, I will try. The portrayal of storytelling is so simple and comedy is so effective, that small nuanced gestures or looks are enough to bring a smile, with the thought that something pretty baffling is around the corner. A typical Priyadarshan film with all factors. ...
